FREEDOM BAPTIST CHURCH - August 26, 2007

FREEDOM BAPTIST CHURCH
August 26, 2007

Today’s Sunday School Lesson: New Testament Postcards, Philemon - “For love’s sake I appeal to you for my child, whom I have begotten in my imprisonment, Onesimus”

Today’s Sermon: I Corinthians 3:187-23, The Foolishness of Worshipping Men - Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

Today we will hear from a representative of the Gideons, Gus Clement. We have heard from various Gideons over the years, but it is still very important for us to hear about the work that God is doing through His Word around the world and that He is still changing lives today. The ministry of the Gideons is an important one and is consistent with the beliefs of this church regarding the necessity of the Scriptures in the spreading of the gospel. By supporting the ministry of the Gideons as you are led we play a vital role in spreading the Word of God. We will receive a love offering for their ministry after the services today.

The Sarah Corner – “And Sarah laughed”
The Purpose of Physics: One day a professor was discussing a particularly complicated concept. A pre-med student rudely interrupted to ask "Why do we have to study this stuff?" "To save lives," the professor responded and continued with the lecture. A few minutes later the same student spoke up again. "So, how does physics save lives?" he persisted. "It keeps the ignoramuses out of medical school," replied the professor.
