Church Items
Our 20th anniversary as a church is upon us: the first meeting of 4 families took place January 31, 1988. We will have a time of celebration next Sunday with a potluck after the morning service. We will dedicate the morning service to the observance of the anniversary, to the church and its future. We will set up tables in the auditorium after the service and eat. The celebration will be over with the potluck.
The prayer requests and prayer chain are on the back of the bulletin for your prayerful consideration. How to use the prayer chain is also listed on the back.
We have added 2 names to the prayer chain. Anyone else that may want to be added just let us know.
We would like to have some staple food items here at the church that we can put into a box for any needy that come by. We would only keep one box on hand and when it is given out we will replenish it.

Encouraging Giving ~ The minister in a little church had been having trouble with the offerings. One Sunday he announced, "Now, before we pass the collection plate, I would like to request that the person who stole the chickens from Brother Martin's henhouse please refrain from giving any money to the Lord. The Lord doesn't want money from a thief!" The offering plate was passed around, and for the first time in months everybody gave.
Today’s Sunday School Lesson
New Testament Postcards - I John 4:7-11, John moves from his points about the Spirit and truth to a result of His indwelling – to love one another. His terminology has changed from “Abiding” to “indwelling” – from our responsibility to God’s work. Love is a part of the character of God. It is His nature, therefore to know Him is to have love. To not love is to not know God.
Today’s Sermon
I Corinthians 14:34-15:2
How Did it Come to This?
Lack of submission and too much self-indulgence in the realm of spiritual gifts had led to a chaotic and disorderly worship service. Besides the problems of multiple, simultaneous tongues-speakers and prophets, there was also a problem of the disruption of husbands and wives in the service. Given the many problems in their marriages, there was no doubt it spilled into the worship service and created problems. Paul speaks of one of these problems in verses 34-36 as it particularly affected the peacefulness of their services. All of the problems of Corinth were leading up to a major catastrophe.
