FREEDOM BAPTIST CHURCH - February 17, 2008

FREEDOM BAPTIST CHURCH
February 17, 2008
Church Items
Our 20th anniversary as a church is upon us: the first meeting of 4 families took place January 31, 1988. We will have a time of celebration today during the worship service and follow with a potluck. The service will run a little longer today and the potluck will conclude our observance. We will move pews and set up tables in the auditorium after the service.
The prayer requests and prayer chain are on the back of the bulletin for your prayerful consideration. How to use the prayer chain is also listed on the back.
We have added 2 names to the prayer chain. Anyone else that may want to be added just let us know.
We would like to have some staple food items here at the church that we can put into a box for any needy that come by. We would only keep one box on hand and when it is given out we will replenish it.

Visiting List: A Catholic priest I once knew went to the hospital to visit patients. Stopping at the nurse's station, he carefully looked over the patient roster and jotted down the room number of everyone who had "Cath" written boldly next to his name. That, he told me, was a big mistake. When I asked why, he replied, "It was only after I had made the rounds that I learned they were all patients with catheters."
Today’s Sunday School Lesson
New Testament Postcards - I John 4:12-16, God has never been seen in His full nature and being by any living person. But in our love for one another, in displaying His character, people see God’s person in this character trait. Sacrifice, compassion and care for one another manifests Christ just as His coming manifested Him in His nature.
Today’s Sermon
The Church in the 21st Century, “The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.”-Brennan Manning
