The prayer requests and prayer chain are on the back of the bulletin for your prayerful consideration. How to use the prayer chain is also listed on the back.
This will be the last Sunday that we solicit your addresses, birthdays, anniversaries and e-mail changes on the back table. However, when changes occur through the year there will be a place on the bulletin board in the office to update your information. If you don’t write it down, it will be forgotten, so please make sure you write down any information that changes so we can keep our records updated this year.
The financial statements for 2007 are on the bulletin board in the office. If you want a copy just let us know and we will provide you copies. We did finish the year only $1500 down in our savings fund. Our gratefulness goes out to all of you for your contributions through the year. We met our goals last year and we are off to a good start for 2008.

The Sarah Corner – “And Sarah laughed”
“Come and Get Me!” My brother dropped off his wife at the hairstylist and she was supposed to call me when she was ready to be picked up. She must have dialed a wrong number, she reported later. She called, and a man said "Hello," to which she cheerfully said, "Come and get me!" The man said, "Are you sure? This is Mitchell's funeral home."
Today’s Sunday School Lesson
New Testament Postcard - I John 4:1-6, Chapter Four connects to chapter 3 by updating two ideas with new thoughts. The first idea is that God, or Christ, abides in each obedient believer. Those who obey His commands dwell in Him and He in them. The second idea is that the way a believer can verify that God lives in him is by the working of God’s Spirit in his life.
Today’s Sermon
I Corinthians 14:6-25, The Superiority of Understanding. I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. 14:15

The Sarah Corner – “And Sarah laughed”
The Dog Ate It; A minister delivered a sermon in ten minutes one Sunday morning. That was about half the usual length of his sermons. He explained, "I regret to inform you that my dog, who is very fond of eating paper, ate that portion of my sermon which I was unable to deliver this morning." After the service, a visitor from another church shook hands with the preacher as he was leaving, and said, "Sir, if that dog of yours has any pups, I sure would like to get one to give to my minister!"
Today’s Sunday School Lesson
New Testament Postcard - I John 3:16-24, Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
Today’s Sermon
I Corinthians 13:8-13 and chapter 14, It’s About the Church, not the Gifts. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. It is clear that Paul is saying that the miracle gifts were temporary and not needed as a Christian grows to maturity.

Dog Driver
As I drove into a parking lot, I noticed that a pickup truck with a dog sitting behind the wheel was rolling toward a female pedestrian. She seemed oblivious, so I hit my horn to get her attention. She looked up just in time to jump out of the way of the truck's path, and the vehicle bumped harmlessly into the curb and stopped. I rushed to the woman's side to see if she was all right. "I'm fine," she assured me, "but I hate to think what could have happened to me if that dog hadn't honked."
Today’s Sunday School Lesson
New Testament Postcard - I John 3:10-12 John’s readers had a sin-denial problem. There are certain attitudes which clearly indicate sin, and hate is one of them. Love for one another is a “first-principle” of the Christian life and is essential.
Today’s Sermon
I Corinthians 13, A Hymn to Love - Love is the greatest attitude of all; tongues, prophecy, and any and all sign gifts are worthless unless exercised with the attitude of love. Our desire is to be for love, not tongues. When Paul uses the word ''tongues" here, he is referring to the sign gift of speaking in tongues. It is ironic that in the most eloquent words that flowed from Paul to the Corinthians he expressed himself in the most poetic way possible about the unimportance of the words when speaking of tongues.

The Sarah Corner – “And Sarah laughed”
A husband was reading an article out loud to his wife. "Did you know that women use about 30,000 words a day, whereas men only use 15,000 words?" His wife replied, "That’s because a woman has to say everything twice." The husband turned to his wife and said, “What?”
Today’s Sunday School Lesson
New Testament Postcard - I John 3:7-9 - Internal righteousness displays a righteous life outwardly. Satan and Christ are obviously as different as sin and righteousness are, but it can take discernment to know the difference. This requires fellowship with God. The Holy Spirit is our “Holy Parent” (seed), and sin is not a part of His character.
Today’s Sermon
I Corinthians 12:14-31 Better Gifts than These - It is God that has arranged the “parts” of the body. He has arranged the gifts and the people just as He has chosen them. If they were all the same part, how could it even be called a body? Therefore there are many parts but it is a single body. There are many gifts in the church, but it operates as a single unit under the will and power of God. We are not all the same and cannot be for the health of the body.
