We are currently preparing a collection of music with an Independence Day theme. They will hopefully be available next Sunday. Our thanks to the Campeau’s for getting this together. Lisa will be recuperating from her surgery next Sunday so we have prepared the service ahead of time. Because of Amy’s surgery she is also unable to be here today. Be in prayer for her. Greg, Ruth and the grandkids are heading to Missouri today, so please pray for them.

Shoe Shopping
A man walks into a shoe store, and tries on a pair of shoes. "How do they feel?" asks the sales clerk. "Well they feel a bit tight," replies the man. The assistant promptly bends down and has a look at the shoes and at the man's feet. "Try pulling the tongue out," the clerk says. "Well, theyth sthill feelth a bith tighth."

Today’s Sunday School Lesson
The Life of Elisha: II Kings 4 The Widow’s Oil
A widow of one of the sons of the prophets was in debt and her two sons about to be taken from her and sold by her creditors, as by law they had power to do (Lev. 25:39). She implored the prophet’s assistance. Inquiring into her circumstances he learned that she had nothing but a pot of oil. This Elisha caused (In his absence, II Kings 4:5) to multiply until the widow had filled with it all the vessels she could borrow.

Today’s Sermon
Who do men say that Jesus is? There is evidence that God exists, but who is He? Is He a person? Has He revealed Himself to us? Did He show us proof of His existence? IS JESUS GOD?

Today’s Sunday School Lesson
The Life of Elisha II Kings 3
Jehoram, king of Israel, and the kings of Judah and Edom were united in a campaign against Moab to suppress a revolt that occurred shortly after the death of Ahab. A difficulty arose from the lack of water. Elisha requested a musician to be brought, and at the sound of the music God came upon him. He ordered pits to be dug to hold the abundant supply of water which he prophesied would be given them.

Today’s Sermon
Do You Believe in Miracles? The Evidence for God
Science is an impersonal observer, only reviewing results. Nature cannot cause anything like God; it merely behaves in a consistent pattern. However, even in nature the laws are sometimes misunderstood or altered. We loosely use the word to mean anything unusual or unexpected. But in connection with Christianity, we mean “an act of God breaking into, changing, or interrupting the ordinary course of things.”

To Protect and Serve: My partner and I were in our police car when we were dispatched to break up a domestic dispute. We spoke with the couple, and the problem was quickly resolved. On leaving, I was admiring the craftsmanship of their turn-of-the-century home and reached for what I thought was the front door. Realizing my mistake, I was turning away in embarrassment when I heard my partner say, "If you have any more problems, we'll be in your closet."

Today’s Sunday School Lesson
The Life of Elisha: II Kings 2-3 – Beginning his ministry
After Elijah’s ascension he lived at Jericho. The town was a residence of a body of the “sons of the prophets.” While there he was waited upon by the citizens who complained to him of the foulness of its waters. He remedied the evil by casting salt into the water at its source, in the name of Jehovah. Leaving Jericho he went to Bethel and upon nearing was met by a number of children who mockingly cried, “Go up, thou baldhead.” This dishonor to God through his prophet was sternly rebuked by Elisha, and “two she-bears came out of the woods and tore 42 of them.

Today’s Sermon
To Love the Lord Thy God
God is a God of love, a God of truth, a God of communication, and a God who is there and is not silent. He reaches out to this world and to every person individually and collectively. What is it that He wants out of us?

The Next Pastor
Rev. Jones shocked the congregation when he announced his resignation from the church and planned move to Arizona. After the service a very distraught Mrs. Williams came to the pastor with tears in her eyes, "Oh, Pastor Bill, we are going to miss you so much. We don't want you to leave!" The kindhearted pastor patted her hand and said, "Now, now, Liz, don't carry on so. The
pastor who takes my place might be even better than me." "Yeah", she cried, "That's what Pastor Mike said when he left!"

Today’s Sunday School Lesson
The Life of Elisha: His Character and Beginnings: Chariots of Fire and Parting the Waters
II Kings 2, Elijah’s Ascension: There is no more mention of Elijah after his calling until he accompanied Elijah to the other side of Jordan, witnessed there his ascension, and with his fallen mantle parted the waters and was welcomed by the sons of the prophets as the successor of Elijah (II Kings 2:1-16).

Today’s Sermon
The God Who is There: The Existence of God
We have studied the God of love, the God of truth, and the God of communication (The Word of God), but is there a God at all? Is being a Christian rational? Do the facts of science have to be ignored in order to believe in God? If we cannot answer the fundamental question of the existence of God, how can we say our faith is real? Does God even exist at all?
Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead. Romans 1:19-20
