Today’s Sermon
Ephesians Series: 6:10-17 The Armor of God
The very detailed and practical exhortations to husband/wife, child/parent and slave/master now broadens out to a more sweeping instruction; the word will be put to work in our lives by the power of the Spirit against the opposition, but only in the Lord’s strength and power. None of the practical exhortations in this letter could be put to work on their own. The “mighty power of God” will flow through us, not our own power.

Today’s Sunday School Lesson
The Book of Revelation: Revelation 11 and 12
The Two Witnesses
The two witnesses have a 3½ year ministry. They are clothed in sackcloth, representing a solemn prophetic ministry requiring the repentance of the people. These men are described as two olive trees (anointed ones) and two lampstands (bearing the light of the Word of God) referred to in Zechariah 4:12-14.
They have the power to: Kill their enemies with fire; Keep it from raining; Turn waters into blood; Bring plagues upon the earth; Harm others with the same harm they attempted to inflict on them

President George Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation of 1789:
“WHEREAS it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me 'to recommend to the people of the United States a DAY OF PUBLIC THANSGIVING and PRAYER, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.”

Today’s Sunday School Lesson
The Book of Revelation: Revelation 11
The Two Witnesses
John is given a “reed” and told to measure the temple, the altar and those that worshipped there. There will be a new temple constructed in Jerusalem at the beginning of the Tribulation period.
The specific time period of 42 months is given here, 3½ years. The event of the Gentiles dominating Jerusalem seems to occur in the last 3½ years of a general 7-year time period.
This chapter introduces the Two Witnesses, their ministry, and their martyrdom in Jerusalem.

Today’s Sermon
Ephesians Series: 6:1-9
Wisdom at Home and at Work
A life filled with the Spirit (5:18) is a wise life in submission illustrated by the relationship of husband and wife. Husband and wife are a picture of Christ’s love for the church in submission and self-sacrifice. This metaphor continues in the teaching of wisdom at home and at work in the role of father-child and master-slave.
The issue of slavery and Christianity is a volatile one today, but the slavery that Paul was referring to referred to the Christian master with the Christian owner. Those hostile to Christianity today should be careful about criticizing the Bible because it does not condemn slavery while they sponsor and promote the death of millions of the unborn. They do not have the moral authority to criticize.

Today’s Sunday School Lesson
The Book of Revelation: Revelation 9-10
The Sixth Trumpet, the Angel and the Little Scroll
The loosing of the four angels results in an army of 200 million mounted troops. Although this number is not necessarily literal, there is no reason not to believe that the size of this army does not fit the modern army and population of Red China. The figure does display an overwhelming force that would strike fear into the heart of any world leader. John didn’t count what he saw; he was told the number.
Chapter 10 and 11 give additional background information to the judgments. This vision that begins here is continuous until 13:1. This interlude goes from Chapter 10 to 15 with the 7th Trumpet judgment included in 11:15-19.

The Truth Shall Set You Free

Today’s Sermon
Walking in Wisdom in Real Life – Ephesians 5:22-23
Marriage, 5:22-23; Parents and children, 6:14; Masters and servants, 6:5-9
Paul has taught us to be wise by being filled with the Spirit. We are now told to apply this teaching to real life in our everyday relationships. Being filled with the Spirit is not an exclusive experience to being in church; it is only by the filling of the Spirit that life can be lived in a wise and moral way. This is exhibited in our daily relationships between husband and wife, children and parents, and bosses and employees. In each of these three most common relationships in our lives the first partner is told to be submissive and humble (5:22; 6:1, 5). But the second one is to show humility by acting like Christ in care and concern for the first. Both parties can achieve this by being individually committed to the Lord.
