FREEDOM BAPTIST CHURCH - August 19, 2007

FREEDOM BAPTIST CHURCH
August 19, 2007

Today’s Sunday School Lesson: The Life of Elisha, Chapters 10-12 - Elisha disappears from the narrative in chapters 10-12. The story of Jehu’s vengeance against Jezebel and the wickedness of Athaliah is presented.

Today’s Sermon: I Corinthians 3:5-17, Quality vs. Inferiority - Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest

Next Sunday we will hear from a representative of the Gideons, Gus Clement. We have heard from various Gideons over the years, but it is still very important for us to hear about the work that God is doing through His Word around the world and that He is still changing lives today. The ministry of the Gideons is an important one and is consistent with the beliefs of this church regarding the necessity of the Scriptures in the spreading of the gospel. By supporting the ministry of the Gideons as you are led we play a vital role in spreading the Word of God.

Passion for Hunting
I love the outdoors, and because of my passion for hunting and fishing, my family eats a considerable amount of wild game. I guess they eat so much, in fact, that one evening as I set a platter of broiled venison steaks on the dinner table, my ten-year-old daughter looked up and said, "Boy, it sure would be nice if pizzas lived in the woods."

Scripture Reading: Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing. John 15:4-5
