FREEDOM BAPTIST CHURCH - February 3, 2008

FREEDOM BAPTIST CHURCH
February 3, 2008
Church Items
The prayer requests and prayer chain are on the back of the bulletin for your prayerful consideration. How to use the prayer chain is also listed on the back.
We have added 2 names to the prayer chain. Anyone else that may want to be added just let us know.
We would like to have some staple food items here at the church that we can put into a box for any needy that come by. We would only keep one box on hand and when it is given out we will replenish it.
Our 20th anniversary as a church is upon us: the first meeting of 4 families took place January 31, 1988, which resulted in the birth of this church. We will have a time of celebration on February 17 with a potluck after the morning service. We will decide if we want to have a special service after the potluck or make our regular service the anniversary recognition and dismiss after the potluck. We will set up tables in the auditorium and take a little more time than usual for this potluck.

The Sarah Corner – “And Sarah laughed”
Weight Report: A small town doctor was famous in the area for always catching large fish. One day while he was on one of his frequent fishing trips he got a call that a woman at a neighboring farm was giving birth. He rushed to her aid and delivered a healthy baby boy. The farmer had nothing to weigh the baby with so the doctor used his fishing scales. The baby weighed 32 lb. 10 oz.
Today’s Sunday School Lesson
New Testament Postcard - I John 4:4-6, John had told them in the second chapter that they had overcome the antichrists. He reinforced the point by referring to the power of the Spirit within them as the source of their victory. Falling from the truth is prevented by trusting in the greatness of the One within them. Therefore no believer can fall from salvation; we are eternally secure because of the power of the Holy Spirit over the antichrists and Satan.
Today’s Sermon
I Corinthians 14:26-40, Peace in the Church; Regardless of how much we may think we want so-called “spontaneity” in our church services, our souls actually desire peace and order. The God-ordained instinct when God’s people come together is for the worship service to be with order, speaking one at a time, without cacophonous clatter or confusing chatter.

Scripture Reading
Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is Thine; Thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and Thou art exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come of thee, and Thou reignest over all; in Thine hand is power and might; and in Thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. I Chronicles 29:11-12
