FREEDOM BAPTIST CHURCH - October 5, 2008

FREEDOM BAPTIST CHURCH
October 5, 2008

Church Items
  1. October Celebrations: Roy Heald, 1st; Bob and Bertie Mahan, 16th; Tim Chandler, 18th; Ralph Cox, 19th
  2. We have changed the direction of the seating to prepare for having a video projector and screen for use with our teaching and worship. We are working on getting everything in place but do not have a timeframe; materials are on order. We thank Richard Motzkus for running the electrical for the project and for the Campeau’s handling the technology.
  3. Owen Frisby is under home hospice care at this time. He asks the church to continue to pray for him diligently. He thinks about us and is encouraged that we are still praying for him.
  4. We congratulate Richard and Joann on the wedding of their daughter Annie last week.

Today’s Sunday School Lesson
The Book of Revelation: 6:9-11

In the fifth seal the scene shifts from earth to heaven and John sees a vision of those who will be martyred for their faith in Christ.

They are described as being under the altar, in keeping with the fact that the blood of the sacrifices of the Old Testament was poured out under the altar (Exodus 29: 12; Lev. 4:7). Who are these people? They cannot be martyrs of the Church Age; for they were raptured before the judgments of the tribulation began. They must be those martyred during the first months of the tribulation when the judgments of the first four seals were being poured out.

Today’s Sermon
Ephesians 4:25-32 Walking in Renewal
Paul now gives examples of how to live according to the renewal of the new man in Christ he discussed in 4:20-24. Five commands are given that have three sections for each one: a negative command, a positive command, and the reason for the positive command.
